3 day 'Beyond Mind' Retreat

A very special retreat with workshops, Q & A sessions and extended periods of practice

We are very fortunate to live in such a peaceful part of the world, sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and Exmoor National Park, it is a truly unhurried place where free time still seems to be more important than being busy. We love to share this secret with those from further afield and although we have run several previous retreats in the area, this is our first special 'Exploring Mind' adventure.

 The timetable is pretty well packed with content and space for just being quiet: after running our two day movement and breath-work intensives in London and Bristol, for this 'Beyond Mind' weekend we have decided that it would work much better in a place that reflects the calm, still, state of mind that we hope to nurture. If this is your first experience of a meditation retreat, then it will be a great place to start with plenty of support and guidance; if you have already attended other meditation retreats then you are sure to explore the mind in all manner of different aspects and if you are local then you don't have to stay at all, you can still enjoy the sessions, the food and the company.


As with all of our retreats, the choice is entirely yours as to what you want to do and there is no pressure to attend any sessions, you absolutely wont hurt our feelings! If you prefer to head out in the afternoon for a walk or a surf lesson we can help you to arrange that! If you want to treat yourself a little one evening then we have that covered too with a variety of excellent, local therapists available for treatments and massages.

The days are fully catered, with three healthy vegetarian meals per day from the on site catering wizards and venue hosts Sam and Imogen. Join Dan and Gemma to explore both discussion and workshop periods to help with your understanding of meditation and working with mind or to go over questions that you might have about your current practice or how to start one.


This three day escape runs from Friday until Sunday afternoon, an additional evening or two of accommodation may be available directly through the retreat centre if you want to come earlier or sty later.

Where and When

This magical place is nestled in the hills just a few minutes drive from our home in Combe Martin. Set down a long track through the fields, it is completely isolated, quiet and shut off from the outside world.

With private woodlands and wildlife walks, streams and a stone circle, a wonderful communal lounge and kitchen as well as a wood fired sauna; there is plenty of time and space to unwind. Step out of your normal rushed existence and spend some time just being yourself.

​The retreat venue is just a short drive of 15 minutes from the award winning surfing beaches of Woolacombe or the wild rivers and moors of Exmoor National Park, over which it enjoys long sweeping views. 

Only a two hour drive from Bristol or a 4 hour jaunt from London you'll be amazed at how far removed you feel from the rest of the world when you arrive.

We have scheduled the retreat to run over the first May bank holiday weekend of 2020 - yes may bank holiday has been changed to a Friday this year - so as to minimise the days you need to take off of work. We also have a catered only option available for a small number locally that want to  enjoy the content but don't need to stay over.

If you want to arrange an extra night or two accommodation let us know and you can contact the retreat directly to see if this is possible as they also run a B&B outside of retreat times.

Whats happening?

We always keep our retreats super chilled, there is no pressure to do anything. This retreat is however a meditation retreat so rather than your normal 'casual yoga retreat' with just a class offered in the morning and the evening you might imagine it more like an extended two and a half days of learning and practice.

Friday Arrive from 3pm:
  • 5pm: Introduction to the retreat and first discussion topics:
  • What is Mind?
  • Developing concentration and dealing with distractions
  • Practical exploration of the topic
  • 7:30pm Evening meal

Saturday:
  • Early quiet sitting session focus on concentration
  • Breakfast
  • Second Discussion Topic: Meditation and Mindfulness with Q & A session
  • What is the difference
  • The 2 different types of meditation
  • Developing a practice 
  • Practical exploration of the days topic
  • Lunch
  • Reflections on morning meditation and topic
  • Free time or Further Quiet sitting 
  • Evening Meal

Sunday:

Community & Investment

It has always been important for us to support our local community, its why we
have never run a retreat outside of the area. We are also looking for our own spot in the south west, to eventually host our own magical events and community projects.

Costs are simple and include evening meals, lunches and breakfasts all cooked on site using local produce wherever possible as well as light snacks, juices and teas.

  • Bed in a twin room with en-suite £345 ONE SPACE
  • Single room (double bed) with shared bathroom £390 SOLD OUT
  • Locals option: Lunch, evening meals and workshops only £240 SOLD OUT (waiting list only)

We ask for a non-refundable deposit of £175 upon booking to reserve your place. Balance due 8 weeks before retreat date

All prices include breakfast, lunch and evening meals as well as the sessions provided by Dan or Gemma. Extra activities, massages etc are at extra cost and paid directly to the therapists
