Gemma has been teaching yoga for over half of her life and of that time almost 20 years have been as a specialist pregnancy yoga teacher and yoga therapist - two fields in which she has a particular passion.
After a challenging and slightly traumatic first birth, she took the decision to ensure that others had the knowledge and confidence to fall back on when they too were preparing for motherhood and bringing new life into the world.
By the time of our second daughter she gave birth unassisted, on a narrow boat two days after Christmas! Being located on an island Dan spent most of it on the phone trying to explain to the midwife how exactly she could find us and get across on a scaffold footbridge..needless to say, she arrived very late to the party :)

Our Yoga Alliance Professionals pregnancy pre-natal yoga teacher training is fully aimed at helping you to bring the same confidence and peace of mind to your own circle of mums to be, as well as in nurturing a mutually supportive group for them to share their excitement, worries and plans with each other. Hopefully they wont have to give birth on a boat to test out how calm they are!
It is aimed at those who already hold a yoga teaching qualification, although you don’t have to want to teach to join us; you may just want to deepen this area of your understanding or maybe you are yourself pregnant and want an in depth exploration of adapting your yoga practice at this time.
We work from the solid grounding that pregnancy and birth are natural processes of life not medical events. Although modern medicine certainly has a place and benefits when it is needed, we should also remember that we have an innate and irreplaceable wisdom of pregnancy and birth as human beings.
During this course, we explore how you can find your own way to empower mothers to find trust in their own wisdom and learn to listen to their own bodies and instincts.
This all begins with our non-dogmatic approach to teaching. We aim to give you the knowledge and tools to create and run pregnancy yoga classes in your own style and a way that is authentic for you.
The course is a Yoga Alliance Professionals Accredited specialist training.
