Meditation deep dives.........
Monthly drop in sessions on Sundays where we take a deeper dive into slightly longer practices and explore both the science and the traditional philosophy behind why we do them and how they work
Octobers topic is 'Are we Sedating Ourselves with Meditation or are we Growing Through Contemplation' - what the Tibetan Buddhists call Gom , or becoming familiar with.
There is a massive difference and indeed we can very easily, or accidentally slip into using meditation and mindfulness as an escape from our problems - from the things that we don't want to face up to.
We can literally 'bliss out' or blank out. With enough practice anyone can learn to do that, we can easily mistake it for being 'meditating' - however it doesn't necessarily mean that we are growing 'spiritually' or in our understanding of why we behave and react in the ways that we do for example.
We will explore the role of contemplation - not as a thought based attempt to dissect a problem and find a solution, but as a sort of 'resting with' what arises, to see if there some clarity around an issue simply arises without directing thought towards it. We'll also explore finding this delicate balance between trying to fix things, avoid things or simply be with things - as they can sometimes seem very similar.
Its a very subtle part of the practice but certainly something that many people tend to miss out on, yet which is so transferrable to our lives.

- some discussion and multi-media content on the focus for the sessions
- chat and question time
- ending with another practice
