From Gemma:
I have been teaching yoga for over half of my life and of that time almost 20 years have been as a specialist pregnancy & postnatal yoga teacher. From 2015 I began my complimentary journey as a yoga therapist. These are two fields in which I have a particular passion.
Recovery, following becoming a mother, led me to the path of exploring; researching and sharing pregnancy & postnatal yoga. This still brings me great joy.
Postnatally I have had to, and in a few cases, am addressing: pelvic girdle pain; vaginal tears; pelvic floor issues; regrets; guilt; as well as empowerment ; joy and deeper knowledge of myself.
As a teacher/ yoga therapist I have worked with women who have had all kinds of birth experiences and the effect of this. Helping them to reconnect; rebalance and recover. Whether this is soon after birth or much later.
Over the years I have come to understand there is no definitive ‘postnatal period.’
When we birth a baby a new mother is born as well. Rather than trying to get back to who we were. `I firmly believe we should welcome and learn to become this new ever evolving person. As a postnatal yoga facilitator part of our role is to allow and guide this process.
Course overview:
2 weekends live online
or
4 days in-person @ our wooded haven in Cornwall.
Our Yoga Alliance Professionals Postnatal yoga teacher training is aimed at those who already hold a yoga teaching qualification - although you don’t have to want to teach to join the course - you may just want to deepen this area of your understanding or maybe you are pregnant or have recently given birth yourself and want an in depth exploration of adapting your yoga practice at this time. We work from the solid grounding that pregnancy, birth and becoming a mother are natural processes of life not medical events. Although modern medicine certainly has a place and benefits when it is needed, we should also remember that we have an innate and irreplaceable wisdom as human beings.
:
During the course, we explore how, as a facilitator of this powerful work, you can find your own way to empower mothers to find trust in their own wisdom and learn to listen to their own bodies and instincts.
